This granite and glass structure, designed by Helmut Jahn of Murphy/Jahn, was the first phase of Liberty Place, a 3,000,000 sf urban center of historic scale and significance. Liberty Place includes two 1,200,000 sf office towers at 1650 Market Street and 1601 Chestnut Street, as well as 125,000 sf of retail specialty shops and restaurants, the 300-room St. Regis Hotel, and a 750-car underground parking garage.Liberty Place is situated in one of Philadelphia's key locations. To be eligible for Energy Star certification, a building must earn a score of 75 or higher on EPA’s 1 – 100 scale, indicating that it performs better than at least 75 percent of similar buildings nationwide. This 1 – 100 Energy Star score is based on the actual, measured energy use of a building and is calculated within EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager tool.
