Adaptive reuse/conversion of the Crenshaw Theater to creative office space. Interior space is column free and has approximately 20 ft. high ceilings. Very unique opportunity in the emerging West Adams District. The Crenshaw Theatre, also known as Kokusai/Los Angeles Performing Arts Theatre, was originally opened in 1943 in the West Adams District. Around 1952 the theatre was run as the first African-American operated theatre in Los Angeles. The theatre had great success in the late 50s and early 60s as the L.A. jazz Concert Theatre. One attraction was after-hours sessions with top musicians in the area dropping in. In 1970s it was renamed the Kokusai Theatre and became an outlet for Japanese films. The building closed in 2020 as a result of the Covid restrictions, but is now ready to become part of the creative industry again!
