About Midtown

Midtown is located in a part of Houston that has experienced considerable gentrification over the past few decades. There is perhaps no neighborhood in Houston that is more centrally located to the strong and growing cohort of upwardly mobile young people with above-average disposable incomes who now call the Rice Military area—along with the Heights, Lazybrook/Timbergrove, Neartown/Montrose and Upper Kirby areas—home. Midtown is also close to some of Houston’s most upscale neighborhoods, including River Oaks, Memorial, Tanglewood, and West University.

The easy ingress and egress of office buildings in this area make it an attractive place for professional and business services companies and medical office tenants who serve this booming area. It is also near some of Houston’s premier cultural and entertainment destinations, including the Museum District, Theater District, Downtown Houston, and NRG Park. Top-tier shopping in River Oaks and Galleria/Uptown are also close by.

Significant multifamily and townhome development has occurred within and around Midtown in recent years. By contrast, new office construction has mostly taken place in nearby downtown, the Galleria/Uptown area, and Greenway. As a result, office vacancies here are low by Houston standards, and office availability is limited. Rents are at the lower end of the top 10 areas in Houston, creating value for tenants here.

Christian Connell, Vice President
Christian is a Vice President on Transwestern’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Advisory Services Group. He is responsible for leasing over 1.2 million square feet of a medical office, life science and Ambulatory Surgery Center portfolio in the greater Houston area. He also specializes in Tenant Representation for Physicians, Healthcare, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and Life Science clients. His portfolio includes properties in The Medical Center, Midtown, Museum District, Bellaire, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, and Kingwood. He is actively engaged in business development, leasing, marketing, and research.  

Christian has been with Transwestern since 2015 with the sole focus in Healthcare & Life Sciences markets from the start.

From 2015 to 2020, Christian was part of a team that completed over $300 million of lease and sales transactions. His success and effectiveness is based on the quality of his relationships, where he consistently seeks out synergistic solutions to best meet his clients’ needs. Some of Christian’s clients include AR Global, MedProperties, D’Agostino Companies, Retina Consultants of Texas, Marker Therapeutics, and Olympia Drive Investments.
Justin Brasell, Executive Managing Director
Justin serves as Executive Managing Director of Transwestern’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Advisory Services Group and leads the Houston Healthcare & Life Sciences Brokerage Team. With 16 dedicated professionals, the Team leases over 9 million square feet of clinical & lab space, more than any other local firm, and has transacted over 2,000 lease and building sales in the last 5 years. The team specializes in agency leasing, tenant representation, investment services and strategic account management.
From 2015 through 2025, Justin completed over $1.1 billion of lease and sale transactions, consistently ranking him a top producer in Houston and within Transwestern nationally.
John Heard, Vice President
John is a Leasing Associate in the Houston Office Division, specializing in leasing services, including transaction management and execution, as well as marketing and business development on behalf of institutional and private real estate investors. Prior to Transwestern, John spent three years as Real Estate Manager at the Texas Medical Center involved in the Leasing, Development and Operations of the 1,400-acre campus.
