The property is located near to the centre of Windermere on an established industrial estate. The location is known as Chestnut Road but is also sometimes referred to as Back Ellerthwaite Road. Chestnut Road is off to the east of Ellerthwaite Road, just north of its junction with Woodland Road and approximately ½ mile south from the centre of the popular tourist town of Windermere. The national motorway network is easily accessible at junction 36 of the M6 approximately 15 miles to the southeast and the town is also connected to the West Coast Mainline via a local train station with connections to Oxenholme, Kendal. Windermere is situated in the Lake District National Park and is the largest National Park in England. The Park itself was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 2017.
