ABOUT HEATHROW WEST

Heathrow and its surrounding area is one of the most important logistics and distribution hubs in the country. It contains the UK’s premier international airport, which handled 1.4 million tonnes of cargo in 2021, the most of any airport in the country and among the top 20 airports internationally. Cargo traffic generates significant demand for warehouse space around the airport. A host of major logistics firms have operations here, including DHL, Kuehne+Nagel and Dnata.

The area to the west of the airport is well connected by road and rail. It offers good access to the M25 London Orbital, as well as the M3 and M4 motorways that connect the area with central London and the South West of England. Rail connections were recently enhanced by the completion of Crossrail, which has reduced journey times to both Reading and central London. Its completion has also increased the potential pool of local workers. More than 2 million people live within a 10-mile radius of Heathrow Airport, making it one of the most densely populated areas in the country.

Richard Harman, Equity Partner - Head of Industrial Agency
DTRE was founded in 2010 and Richard joined soon after. With Mark Webster, he jointly runs the Industrial Leasing team. He is closely involved in all deals in this space, including the largest UK airport pre-let to date - a 210,000 sq ft Heathrow let to dnata. He also worked on the first deal to hit £6 per square foot in North-West England – to Amazon, at Omega, Warrington. Originally from Wetherby, Richard plays football and cricket, and in 2018 ran the London Marathon, raising £7k for charity.

Richard has specialised in the Industrial Distribution sector for over 12 years, primarily focussing on the south east of England.

Richard’s experience encompasses leasing and development advice of both multi-let estates and large scale distribution units such as the 380,000 sq ft Comet pre-let in Harlow and the 450,000 sq ft Carpet Right letting in Purfleet.

In 1997 he joined Hiller Parker, Industrial Agency and in 2000, he joined niche Industrial Agency, Development and Investment specialists, Holley Blake. Richard worked at CB Richard Ellis for four years and was primarily responsible for the west London market and dealt with clients such as Brixton, Canmoor and AIPUT.
