ABOUT WATERFRONT/NORTH BEACH

History meets contemporary along San Francisco’s Waterfront and North Beach Area. Buildings originally developed in the early 19th century have been retrofitted into creative office spaces popular with tenants in a wide variety of industries. The area houses the sprawling brick headquarters of Levi Strauss & Co. and offices for Williams-Sonoma. Levi’s Plaza, fronting today’s Embarcadero, was developed on the site of an old wharf.

Small and midsized businesses proliferate in the area due to its historic real estate stock and building height limits. The open Waterfront and North Beach neighborhood offers an alternative feel to the dense and traffic-choked environment downtown. The Embarcadero, Telegraph Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Exploratorium, and North Beach’s famous Italian restaurants provide for a strong amenity base with numerous lunchtime and entertainment options.

Muni bus and light rail lines serve the neighborhood, and the nearby central subway will improve access to the area upon its opening. The area is also convenient to auto commuters from the North Bay and residents in the northern side of the city.

Scott Harper, Senior Vice President
Scott Harper specializes in leasing office buildings in Downtown San Francisco by representing Institutional owners to maximize the value of their buildings valued between $50 million to $350 million.  
During his career, which began in 1990 in San Francisco, he has leased, renewed, or sold approximately 12.2 million total square feet of office space in the city.  Although he primarily represents Landlords, he has also participated in $1.5 billion in investment sales transactions. Scott currently represents over 1.6 million square feet of office space with notable clients including Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (formerly RREEF), American Assets Trust,  Prudential Investments, Principal Global Investors, GE Real Estate, Ellis Partners, Harsch Investment Properties, and Yale Properties. In 2007, Scott was appointed to start and lead the company’s West Coast Urban Landlord Partners Practice Group.  This is a specialized group of collaborative Downtown Landlord Leasing teams in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Phoenix. Also, in 2009, Scott was asked by the company to serve on the ten member Board of Directors of Colliers International USA. Appointed the Managing Director in 2002, Scott managed the Leasing and Investment Sales operations of the San Francisco office until January 2007. During his five-year tenure as Manager of the office, revenues increased 77%.
Brian McCarthy, Senior Vice President
Brian joined Transwestern in 2019 and focuses exclusively on San Francisco office leasing with a primary concentration on landlord representation. His clients range from international institutional investors to local families owning single boutique office buildings. Brian and his partners, Mike McCarthy and Maddie Meyersieck, work together as a team on all transactions and currently oversee a portfolio of over 30 buildings, representing over three million square feet.

Brian spent the first 15 years of his career at Colliers International where he was consistently one of the top producers in the San Francisco office. During his time at Colliers International, he was involved in over 600 transactions totaling more than seven million square feet.
Michael McCarthy, Executive Vice President
Mike leads a three-person team including Brian McCarthy and Maddie Meyersieck, specializing in agency leasing in San Francisco. He takes great pride not only in his roster of clients but also in the number of years that he has been able to loyally work on their behalf. A partial list of his clients includes: SKS Investments (20 yrs.), The Swig Company (15 yrs.), PMI (13 yrs.), Hudson Pacific Properties (10 yrs.), American Assets Trust (8 yrs.), Clarion Partners (8 yrs.), Gaw Capital (8 yrs.), Zurich Alternative Asset Management (8 yrs.) and Nuveen (3 yrs.).

Mike joined Transwestern in November 2019 after a distinguished 33-year career at the San Francisco office of Colliers International. Mike was consistently a member of the Colliers Everest Club, a designation reserved for the top 10% of producers of the company. Some of Mike’s more significant lease transactions include: Adobe’s 310,584 square feet at 100 Hooper Street for Kilroy Realty Corporation, Google’s 253,198 square feet at The Landmark – One Market for American Assets Trust and Splunk’s 182,284 square feet at 270 Brannan Street for SKS Investments / Mitsui.
Madeline Meyersieck, Vice President
A Vice President in Transwestern’s San Francisco office, Maddie specializes in landlord representation. She focuses primarily on the SOMA and South Financial District submarkets. She and her team oversee a portfolio of more than 30 office buildings totaling more than three million square feet. Her clients include American Assets Trust, Hudson Pacific Properties and the Swig Company.  

Maddie began her real estate career in 2013 at Harvest Properties, where she served on the property management team, prior to joining Colliers as a leasing broker for the SOMA market. Her background in building operations and management provides her with a unique perspective on agency leasing, which she brings to each client engagement.
