Akira Mori is the Chairman and a leading owner of Mori Trust Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s most prominent real estate development and investment groups. He was born in July 1936 in Kyoto, Japan, and is the son of Taikichiro Mori, founder of Mori Building and one of Japan’s most influential real estate figures.
Mori began his career at Yasuda Trust & Banking before joining the family business in 1972. He assumed leadership of Mori Trust in 1999 and later became Chairman in 2016, guiding the company’s strategic evolution in office, hotel, and mixed-use development across Japan.
Under his leadership, Mori Trust has grown to manage more than 100 properties nationwide and has expanded internationally with major acquisitions in the United States, including office assets in Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., Boston, and New York.
Mori continues to oversee long-term strategy while his daughter, Miwako Date, serves as President and CEO, leading the company’s next phase of global investment and development.
