Allen’s background spans 35 years in the shopping center business. From 1986 to 1995 when, his focus centered on landlord representation and then tenant representation in a three-state region. Upon joining the Trammell Crow in June 1995, Allen turned his focus to shopping center investment sales for both private and institutional clients.
When Baker Storey McDonald (BSM) was formed in 2001, Allen redirected his skills towards the acquisition of value-add retail product where all the partners could leverage their vast knowledge of the shopping center industry to create value for themselves and their investors. Since the formation of BSM Properties, he has been instrumental in spearheading the development and acquisition of over $150 million in retail projects. Most of the projects entailed significant redevelopment and reimaging of the asset resulting in significant value for all stakeholders.
More recently, Allen has turned his attention towards the operational side of BSM’s management and brokerage platforms. The primary goal is to drive value to BSM’s clients through increased management efficiency and technology platforms that help assist its clients to make smart and impactful decisions.
In his spare time, Allen enjoys traveling with Lynn, and spending time with his grandchild Eloise. He continues to be active playing pickleball and tennis, enjoys backpacking and hiking in Colorado and when the snow begins to fall, skiing in Colorado
