Barry Berkowitz joined NKF Capital Markets in the Manhattan office in 2009 to specialize in capital markets and investments.
With over 25 years of combined real estate and finance experience as both a principal and an intermediary, Mr. Berkowitz utilizes his experience as an experienced developer, business owner and skilled financial advisor to assist and advise owners and investors on dispositions and acquisitions, including distressed assets, loan sales and investment properties. He has successfully completed complicated equity and debt transactions on office, industrial, residential, hotel and retail properties, which he pursued on behalf of institutional as well as private capital market clients.
Mr. Berkowitz also provides leasing and advisory services. His most recent assignment included the search for a headquarters and retail showcase for designer Rai Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons in NYC. It will debut this year in a seven-story building to be known as Dover Street Market-NYC. It will be modeled after the original Dover Street Market located in London's Mayfair district.
Prior to joining NKF Capital Markets, Mr. Berkowitz was the principal of Beta 2 Fund, a New York-based buy-side fund which acquired properties on a national basis. As an owner, he gained firsthand experience in the acquisition, development, finance and disposition of real estate assets.
His immediate prior affiliation was as a vice president in the equity and structured finance group at a leading international real estate investment banking firm in New York. Prior to that, Mr. Berkowitz was with Eastern Consolidated. He has been directly responsible for the marketing and sale of major investment properties and development sites in Manhattan and the greater New York region.
He is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York and the Cornell Real Estate Council.
Mr. Berkowitz holds a B.S. from Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration, and an M.B.A. in Finance from Syracuse University.
