My rather rude initiation into NYC commercial real estate occurred when the agent that a few years earlier had leased me my Manhattan loft to house my fledgling photo business mentioned that if I renewed my lease before it was to expire that my rent would only increase by four hundred percent.
Following that disturbing conversation I soon after purchased a loft in what was then a very undesirable, nearly abandoned neighborhood in Midtown South known as Flatiron. Little then could I have known that years later I would be considered sort of real estate guru having purchased one of the first commercial coops in Manhattan. It was 1979.
That loft was home to my very successful advertising photography business for well over two decades. That space is now the home to my very successful commercial tenant.
Being an active landlord these years has provided me with the awareness of the needs of both renters and owners. Negotiating and marketing skills developed throughout my career and involvement in numerous entrepreneurial business ventures has offered me the tools to become an expert tenant and landlord representative.
As well, serving over three decades as a director of my Manhattan commercial coop board I have experienced ground-breaking city zoning and building scenarios, invaluable to my real estate expertise.
