Bio
As President of The Carrell Group, Bruce oversees the executive leadership of the company and manages all construction activities. He has been a licensed General Contractor in both North and South Carolina since the late 1980s.
Bruce is an honors graduate of the Indiana University School of Business (Class of 1980) and has received numerous building achievement awards, including “Builder of the Year” from the Horry County Homebuilders Association in 1993.
Outside of work, Bruce is a passionate musician, composer, cook, zymologist, wine enthusiast, travel writer, and racquetball player. He is also a licensed private pilot and enjoys flying his Cessna 182 to some of the company’s more distant job sites.
Bruce divides his time between his homes in Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC, with his wife Sonya, and enjoys spending time with his daughters, Catherine and Laura. Named after his grandfather—a master carpenter and homebuilder—Bruce learned the fundamentals of building from his father, Denny Carrell, and proudly continues a tradition spanning three generations.
While Bruce enjoys both residential and commercial construction, his true passion lies in design. He has drawn thousands of plans and takes great pride in collaborating with clients to understand their dreams and goals, then translating those into thoughtful, functional designs.
