BURREL MAGNUSSON is owner of THE ESSEX GROUP, a principal of ESSEX REALTY MANAGEMENT, INC. and ESSEX PROPERTIES. He has been actively engaged in the development and management of investment-oriented properties in the US since 1971. His background includes experience in feasibility analysis, property acquisition, development, capital funding, marketing and asset management.
Mr. Magnusson directs the activities of THE ESSEX GROUP as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Under his direction, the company has developed and managed office buildings, industrial parks, retail centers, and multi-family properties representing a total value in excess of $220 million and over 2.5 million square feet of space with an emphasis on quality developments. Several of these projects have been honored with design awards from the Pacific Coast Builder’s Conference. On various occasions, Mr. Magnusson has served as guest speaker and panelist for such organizations as the American Institute of Architects and the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, lending his comments and expertise on various aspects of the development process and trends within the industry. Mr. Magnusson received his professional degree in Business Administration from the California State University at Long Beach. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in California, a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP), and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
