Christine J. Mastandrea serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Whitestone REIT, a publicly traded REIT focused on neighborhood-oriented, open-air retail centers in high-growth Sun Belt markets. In her current role, Mastandrea is responsible for establishing Whitestone’s strategic priorities, translating those priorities into quantitative operating plans, and driving decision-making processes that enhance both short- and long-term portfolio performance. Her responsibilities span portfolio strategy, redevelopment, new development, and new product initiatives, positioning her as a central architect of Whitestone’s operational and growth platform. She was appointed President while continuing in her COO capacity, reflecting expanded responsibility within the executive leadership structure.
Mastandrea has played a pivotal role in Whitestone’s evolution as a public company. She previously led the executive team during the portfolio’s initial turnaround, supported the company’s IPO, and guided its transition into a publicly traded REIT. Earlier in her career, she was Chief Operating Officer of Midwest Development Corporation, a privately held residential and commercial real estate company. She began her career on Wall Street trading floors before becoming an investment banker at Robert W. Baird & Co., where she advised Whitestone on strategic initiatives prior to formally joining the company. In addition to her corporate leadership, Mastandrea serves as an Adjunct Professor at Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, contributing to graduate-level real estate and corporate strategy education. Her background reflects deep expertise across investment banking, development, portfolio transformation, and public-company operations.
