David K. Holeman serves as Chief Executive Officer of Whitestone REIT, a publicly traded retail REIT focused on convenience-oriented, open-air neighborhood shopping centers in high-growth Sun Belt markets. He was appointed CEO in January 2022, following long-tenured service as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. In his current role, Holeman is responsible for overall corporate strategy, operations, capital allocation, governance, and execution of Whitestone’s community-centric retail investment platform. He works closely with the Board of Trustees and executive leadership team to guide portfolio strategy, capital markets activity, and long-term value creation for shareholders.
Holeman joined Whitestone REIT in 2006 and served as Chief Financial Officer for approximately 15 years, overseeing financial reporting, capital markets, investor relations, treasury, and corporate finance during multiple market cycles. Prior to Whitestone, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Gexa Energy, a NASDAQ-listed retail electricity provider, where he played a key role in the company’s successful sale to NextEra Energy. Earlier in his career, Holeman served as Chief Financial Officer and Controller of Houston Cellular Telephone Company (later Cingular Wireless, a subsidiary of AT&T), and held senior finance and restructuring roles at Coram Healthcare and H.M.S.S., Inc. His career reflects more than 35 years of public-company financial and operational leadership, with deep experience across utilities, telecommunications, healthcare, and retail real estate sectors.
