Derek Sylvester, owner of Gulph Creek Hotels, joined the company in 2006. He directs acquisition, development, and asset management of a Mid-Atlantic portfolio featuring brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental, and Choice, and oversees recent initiatives including the redevelopment of a Best Western Plus into Residence Inn and Hotel Prussia in King of Prussia (completed 2024) and the management launch of SpringHill Suites Centreville–Chantilly (2024). Prior to founding Gulph Creek, Sylvester was President of Sylvester Consulting Group (1996–2010), served as Asset Manager at Scout Capital (2006–2008), Partner at Restaurant Advisory Services (1992–1996), Senior Associate at PKF Consulting (1988–1992), and began his career in Food & Beverage Management at Marriott Hotels (1986–1988). He holds a BS in Hotel Administration from Cornell University (1982–1986).
