Bio
Eric Smookler is Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of WS Development, a Boston-based real estate development, ownership, and management firm recognized as one of the largest privately held developers in the United States. In this role, Eric is responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment strategy, capital allocation, acquisitions, and portfolio-level financial performance across its national platform.
Eric joined WS Development in 2009 and has held senior leadership roles within the firm. Over his tenure, he has played a central role in shaping WS Development’s investment approach and long-term ownership strategy, supporting the firm’s growth across retail-led, mixed-use, and community-oriented real estate assets throughout the United States.
Prior to joining WS Development, Eric served as Vice President of Acquisitions at Galileo Funds Management Limited, where he was responsible for acquiring retail, office, and industrial assets in the United States, Japan, and Europe on behalf of Australian institutional investors. He began his career as an Analyst at Bear, Stearns & Co., gaining foundational experience in financial analysis and capital markets.
