He also led key initiatives including reducing debt, enhancing the portfolio, and simplifying the business model through the sale of Cole Capital.

Prior to rejoining O’Connor in 2013, Mr. Rufrano served as Global President and Chief Executive Officer of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., a global commercial real estate services firm, and was a member of its Board of Directors. From January 2008 to February 2010, he was Chief Executive Officer of Centro Properties Group, an Australian-based shopping center company with significant retail holdings in both Australia and the United States. From April 2007 through January 2008, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Centro’s U.S. operations. From 2000 until its acquisition by Centro in 2007, Mr. Rufrano was Chief Executive Officer of New Plan Excel Realty Trust, Inc., a publicly traded retail REIT, and a member of its Board of Directors. During his tenure, New Plan grew into one of the nation’s largest public real estate companies, owning and managing more than 460 community and neighborhood shopping centers totaling approximately 68 million square feet.
Mr. Rufrano has served as a public director of several real estate companies, including Ventas, Inc., Columbia Property Trust, Trizec Properties, Criimi Mae Inc., and General Growth Properties.
