As Senior Vice President, Design at Starwood Hotels, Gonzalo is responsible for guiding the growing global brand's design strategy for new developments and overseeing updates to existing properties, while ensuring each space reflects the cultures, communities, and natural surroundings in which it resides, and reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and world-class design leadership.
Formerly, as EVP of Design and Development at MGM Resorts International, one of the world's leading hospitality and entertainment companies, he oversaw the development and strategy for all global and domestic design activities for this Fortune 500 company. For over 5 years, working and traveling to Japan, he led the masterplan and program of the MGM Osaka IR project, which is slated to become Japan's first world-class growth oriented integrated resort.
Prior to joining MGM Resorts, he was the Studio Leader at Rockwell Group, a renowned architecture and design firm, where he managed the design and delivery of multiple award-winning hospitality, residential, and cultural projects across the globe. I also founded and led my own design studio, GBDW LLC, where he provided creative direction in architecture, masterplan and interior design services for a variety of clients and industry sectors.
