Cohen Investment Group was formed in 2013 by Hugh D. Cohen, CCIM, SIOR creating a commercial real estate investment, acquisition, mezzanine lending and real estate services company headquartered in Norfolk, VA.
Prior to launching Cohen Investment Group, Mr. Cohen served as Vice President of Commercial Leasing & Sales at Harbor Group International from February 1, 2001 through August 30, 2013, where he assisted in helping the company grow its commercial portfolio market cap from 750 million dollars to over 4 billion dollars in value. During his tenure at Harbor Group, Mr. Cohen successfully managed to lease over 3 million square feet of commercial office, retail and industrial real estate space in markets such as: Norfolk, VA, Atlanta, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Columbia, SC, Cleveland, OH, Macon, GA, San Diego, CA, Washington, DC, El Paso, TX, Nashville, TN, Durham, NC, Newport News, VA and many more. Mr. Cohen, completed over 500 million dollars in leasehold and sale transactions for Harbor Group International and participated or organized in the sale of commercial real estate investments, acquisitions and syndications including office, office flex and multi-family.
Mr. Cohen also takes the time to sit on various community boards: Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE), United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, Greater Norfolk Corporation and the Downtown Norfolk Council. Mr. Cohen has also earned dual designations of Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM) and Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Only about 10 commercial brokers currently hold both designations in the State of Virginia. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Old Dominion University.
