Jack Halpern currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Halpern Enterprises, where he oversees strategic planning, major investment decisions, and the company’s overall financial performance. In this capacity, he leads long-term portfolio strategy across the firm’s multi-state retail real estate holdings. His tenure includes guiding organizational direction, stewarding family-owned assets, and contributing to the company’s sustained regional presence in commercial real estate. His leadership achievements include being named one of Atlanta Magazine’s most influential leaders for three consecutive years and receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Westminster Schools in 2019. He is also a longstanding member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Halpern began his career at Halpern Enterprises in 1978 as in-house counsel, joining the business founded by his father, Bernard Halpern. Prior to entering the family firm, he practiced law in Atlanta for three years. Over the course of his career, he has held numerous leadership roles in community organizations, including serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Epstein School and The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, co-chair of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, and board member of the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League. He also served as the founding chairman of the Doraville Downtown Development Authority and was recognized as Smyrna, Georgia’s Citizen of the Year in 2015.
