James V. (Van) Corr, Jr.James V. (Van) Corr, Jr. has been involved in commercial real estate since 1984. His broad real estate experience includes sales, leasing, site selection, property management, and development. He was awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member Designation (CCIM) in 1991 and has served in various capacities including President of both the Commercial Real Estate Club of Birmingham (1993) and the Alabama CCIM Chapter (1999).
He formed Commercial Realty, LLC in 1993 with a focus on brokerage and tenant representation and soon expanded into retail and multifamily development/redevelopment opportunities throughout the Birmingham area.
While focusing on business mainly in Alabama, Van has assisted many national tenants such as Dunn & Bradstreet, Wal-Mart, Kinko’s, Eckerd Drugs, and Chick-fil-A with their expansion into the Birmingham sub-markets. Some Commercial Realty development projects of note are a 20,000 square-foot retail development in Gardendale and a 15-unit apartment-to-townhome redevelopment in Vestavia Hills.
Tenant representation has been an important part of Commercial Realty. One of the main tenants Van has represented is Milo’s Hamburgers. He has worked with Milo’s in handling all of their real estate needs beginning with strategic mapping and site selection and brokering the deal through its completion. Milo’s currently has 16 locations in the Birmingham area and is still expanding. Commercial Realty is currently developing a 30-acre multi-use project in the rapidly growing community of Calera, Alabama.
