His book Building Small: A Toolkit for Real Estate Entrepreneurs, Civic Leaders and Great Communities, has gained a powerful following for those seeking to rebuild communities and neighborhoods. An active member of the Urban Land Institute, sits on the Advisory Board for the Council of Infill Builders, and peer reviews industry white papers for the Terner Center for Housing Innovation.
A resident of Healdsburg, CA, Jim developed a twelve-unit infill Cottage Court and developed and runs an awarded coworking space. A member of his community’s Housing Working Group and incoming chair of the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Trained as a landscape architect, Jim received a Masters in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
