A practicing attorney for twelve years, Owens included five years of experience working as part of a professional team associated with a development firm, bringing his talents in the areas of law and real estate together for the benefit of his clients. John Owens' background includes 7 years of private law practice and 5 years with real estate firms. This background has led to knowledge of all aspects of the real estate industry, from site selection and land acquisition to investment opportunities. His background as an attorney helps assure a smooth resolution to challenges in a real estate transaction and ensures that clients aren't entangled in legal problems that could affect their properties in the future. Most recently, he has been involved in site selection and acquisition on behalf of national retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Staples and for local retailers such as Uinta Golf and regional apartment developers. Owens also possesses special expertise in the area of tax free 1031 exchanges and is experienced in assisting institutional investors, companies, and individuals in identifying and securing appropriate real estate investments. Owens earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979 from the University of Utah, where he also was awarded his Juris Doctorate three years later. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Salt Lake Board of Realtors.
