John Pharr has led Strand Hospitality since 1984 after starting as GM of the Holiday Inn Downtown in Myrtle Beach. Under his leadership, Strand became a top hotel management firm in the Southeast. Recognized as Hotelier of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Hospitality Association, Pharr is celebrated for his administrative expertise and deep industry knowledge.
He holds an MBA from Webster University and a BS from Michigan State University, and retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he worked on global lodging projects and served as an Air Force Academy Admissions Counselor.
Pharr serves on boards for Myrtle Beach National Companies (30+ years), National Golf Course Management, and advisory committees for Michigan State’s School of Hospitality Business and Real Estate Investment Management Program. He is a member of the Myrtle Beach Rotary Club, a former AHLA board member, and past Wingate Inns Presidents Advisory Council member.
