Jon Prater joined Calbay as Director of Acquisitions in 2023, bringing over 8 years of commercial real estate experience. He is responsible for identifying, evaluating, negotiating, and acquiring retail sites for Calbay’s development pipeline. In addition, Jon cultivates relationships with brokers, sellers, landlords, and other key parties to help source under-performing properties that fit Calbay’s site selection criteria.
Prior to joining Calbay, Jon Prater worked at Berkeley Capital Advisors, a premier boutique retail investment brokerage based in Charlotte, NC. He last served as a Director in the West Coast office where he specialized in advising clients on the acquisition and disposition of net leased properties across the United States.
Prior to joining Berkeley Capital Advisors, Jon was a Senior Associate at Matthews REIS where he successfully represented both institutional and private clients giving unparalleled service and market leading advisory in the retail sector.
Jon is a Chapman University alumnus and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Jon lives in Manhattan Beach and enjoys golf, surfing, beach volleyball, and living an active lifestyle.
