Bio
As a child, Josh imagined someday he’d join his family’s 115-year-old commercial brokerage and real estate firm founded by his great grandfather. For the past 25 years Josh has been part of the family business and still draws on those early lessons from his father and grandfather. He started in brokerage at Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates (KDA) and currently serves as the company’s vice president, overseeing property and asset management for KND Management Co., Inc. In his role Josh has been instrumental in expanding the institutional property management division of the company and growing its market portfolio beyond the New York metro area. He brings a wealth of experience and key skills — from negotiating complex financing terms to thinking creatively — to every transaction.
After graduating from Syracuse University with a political science degree in 1994, he officially joined KDA’s Manhattan office and cut his teeth in brokerage, leasing and sales. While at KDA, Josh enrolled in New York University’s real estate graduate program, and earned his master’s degree in 1998. He then formed a real estate investment company with a childhood friend, focusing initially on loft buildings in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. This led to the acquisition and development of the current site of the Gansevoort Hotel, in which he was an early investor. Ultimately he sold his interest in the deal and parted ways with partnership, but learned a wealth of valuable skills and knowledge from the experience. His next deal was a seven-story mixed-use office building at 50 Clinton Street in Hempstead Long Island, which he purchased and arranged financing for on behalf of the family and then rejoined Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates full time.
