Karl serves as Executive Director of Real Estate for Baptist Health and several of its affiliated companies. With a diverse background in commercial real estate development, asset management and real estate law, Karl focuses on acquisitions and development of commercial properties and land for either commercial or residential development. In transactions where his experience provides added value to select clients, Karl represents third parties in commercial property sales and leases. Prior to joining Baptist Health, Karl served as Flagler Development Company’s Vice President – Market Officer, North Florida from 2006-2011. In that role he was responsible for the leasing and financial performance of 4.2 million square feet of office and industrial space in Jacksonville, which included the development of two office buildings totaling over 260,000 square feet. He also oversaw the entitlement, development and disposition of Flagler’s North Florida land holdings. From 2000-2006, he served as Flagler’s Vice President & General Counsel. In that role he managed the legal work for Flagler’s real estate holdings, which consisted of 12+ million sq. f.t. of office and industrial buildings and 10,000+ acres of land, and oversaw portfolio financing transactions in excess of $350 million. Actively involved in the professional community, Mr. Hanson served as President of the NAIOP Northeast Florida chapter for 2011 and has been active in the North Florida District Council of the Urban Land Institute previously serving as chairperson of the Programs Committee and Technical Assistance Panel Committee.
