Kees Janeway is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of ICONIC Real Estate, Detroit’s premier full-service commercial real estate brokerage, founded in early 2017. With over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, Kees specializes in retail, restaurant, and mixed-use properties across the Midwest, with a deep focus on the Detroit market.
The foundation of his career was built in downtown Detroit, where he worked with a variety of national retail clients on mall and high-street leasing. He later joined Taubman Centers, where he was responsible for leasing a national portfolio of 28 malls. After several years operating independently, Kees refocused on his passion for Detroit’s revitalization, restaurants, and retail.
Kees is currently responsible for the explosive growth of Alliance Mobile, one of AT&T’s largest authorized retailers with over 400 locations by the end of 2026. Through strategic site selection, aggressive leasing execution, he is driving growth in 23 states and counting, he has plays pivotal role in helping Alliance Mobile scale rapidly into a national powerhouse with hundreds of prime retail locations across the Midwest and beyond. His hands-on approach to identifying high-performing locations and negotiating favorable deals has been instrumental in strengthening Alliance Mobile’s market presence and supporting its continued expansion.
Known for his strong negotiation skills, market expertise, and client-first mindset, Kees brings energy, integrity, and results to every transaction. Whether representing national brands seeking new markets, restaurant concepts looking for signature locations, or developers executing complex mixed-use projects, he is committed to creating long-term value and contributing to the continued revitalization of Detroit and surrounding communities.
Kees is a proud Detroiter who is passionate about the city’s growth and transformation. He resides in the area with his wife Reena and their three children.
