Perlmutter has a wide ranging real estate background with more
than 30 years of experience in private and Federal real estate. He
has worked in a variety of positions for the U.S. General Services
Administration, as Assistant Regional Administrator in Regions 2
and 9, and as a leasing agent and property disposal officer until his
retirement. Among his achievements was the sale in 1985 of
Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato, California for $45 million. At the
time it was the highest price GSA had ever received for the sale of
a single property. As a result of the sale he received an
Outstanding Award in recognition of this successful sale.
In addition he worked with and was a partner in Orion Partners Ltd.
a commercial real estate firm for fifteen years until its demise in
2010; he has worked as a residential real estate agent for Merrill
Lynch Realty and Prudential California Realty; as a real estate
consultant to various private clients. He is currently serving a
second three year term as a Library Commissioner in Marin County.
He also volunteers for the Tiburon Town Library in his spare time.
He served as a Planning Commissioner for the Town of Tiburon, CA.,
holding that office for four years; a volunteer for Marin County's
Department of Elections and worked his way up to the highest rank
a volunteer can achieve to that of "Rover."
