Michael Walker has leased retail properties for some of the largest shopping center owners in the US for 35 years, including Simon Property Group, New England Development, and Brixmor. He has also assisted numerous first-time and expanding retailers throughout the southeast with a level of sophistication and customer service unparalleled in the industry. Since moving to Atlanta in 2015, Michael has brought over 25 retail centers to 100% occupancy, having completed over 375 deals producing in excess of $150M in Total Lease Value.
Having relocated to Santa Rosa Beach, FL in 2021, Michael assists small and large retailers alike with single-store logistics as well as multi-unit expansion plans. From site selection to favorable lease terms to contractor coordination through tenant build-out, Michael’s shepherding efforts come at no monetary cost to the end user.
In the last ten years, Michael has completed over 70 restaurant deals for local, regional, and national operators alike, including new-to-market eateries from bakery cafés to lunch/dinner concepts including high-end epicurean establishments offering unique menus and experiences, with annual sales from $1-10M.
Prior to joining the EXP Commercial Real Estate team following ten years with Atlanta-based Brand Properties, Michael held Vice President/Leasing roles with major REITs. At InvenTrust, he oversaw leasing efforts for 50 retail properties in the eastern United States. Before this, he led the northeast division’s leasing team for Brixmor Property Group overseeing 13M square feet of community and neighborhood shopping centers producing over $100M in annual NOI.
Michael has been an active member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) since 1992. He earned ICSC’s most comprehensive designation in 2018, the Certified Retail Real Estate Professional (CRRP) in addition to his CLS (Certified Leasing Specialist) designation earned in 1998. He holds Real Estate Licenses in Georgia, Florida and Alabama.
