During his thirty (30) years of practice he has founded two construction and program management firms and one architectural firm which have been acquired by larger companies. He is a licensed architect in numerous states and nationally. As principal and founder of Carpenter Associates, a program management, construction management, and development services firm, he was involved in the design and implementation of major construction programs. In 1983, he founded the first construction program management firm in the State of Mississippi and has been a leader in educating the Region to the benefits to this project delivery method. His experience allowed him to participate in projects ranging from $3 million to $540 million. He has served on advisory boards for several university construction education programs and metropolitan development agencies. His undergraduate studies were in mechanical engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. In addition, he has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
