Mike was born and reared in Jasper and attended Walker High School, and Walker College. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama with advanced degrees in Education. Mike was the Director of Special Education, Director of Special Programs, Principal of North Highlands School and 504 Director for the Jasper City School System for 32 years, and Adjunct Professor for the University of Alabama Birmingham for 5 years. He has served on numerous boards for professional and civic organizations locally and statewide and currently serves on the Board for Beacon House. He was on the Board of Directors for the Walker Board of Realtors and the Board of Directors for the Alabama Association of Realtors for several years. He is an active member of the Midway Church of Christ in Jasper. His hobbies include music, playing piano, traveling, hiking and the outdoors, and being with family and friends.
