Nancy Johnston is Managing Partner of the San Diego office of Epsteen and Associates. Nancy has over 30 years of experience in retailing, Tenant Representation and shopping center development. During the last 20 years, through her work representing hundreds of retailers in their expansion into the San Diego market, she has been instrumental in building Epsteen and Associates' extraordinary reputation in San Diego. Epsteen and Associates, founded by Michael Epsteen, was one of the earliest specialists to establish the "Tenant Rep" discipline in retail brokerage.
Nancy holds a BS Degree in Marketing from the School of Business at San Diego State University, where she Graduated with honors and received the Wall Street Journal Achievement Award. The award was in recognition of her work to establish the School of Business Internship Program, which continues today as a strong organization offering internships to graduate and undergraduate students.
Nancy was active in the early years of Downtown San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. She served as the Executive Director of the Gaslamp Quarter Association, during the 1981 formation of the Gaslamp Quarter Foundation, and helped establish the Initial Business Improvement District for the historic 16-block area including much of its early retail development between 1980-1982.
Nancy has been awarded recognition as one of the nations' outstanding brokers by Starbucks Coffee four times in the last eight years and is a frequent speaker and presenter in the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Retailers represented by Nancy over time have included a wide range of retail concepts, from start-ups to international credit tenants, including:Circuit City, The Sports Authority, Famous Footwear, Best Buy, Borders Books, Petco, Starbucks Coffee, Aaron Brothers, Michaels, Supercuts, Party City, Strouds Linen, Ross Dress for Less, Jamba Juice, Sport Mart, The Gap, Sammy's WoodFired Pizza, Factory 2-U, Pep Boys, World Wrapps, Pure Beauty and many others.Nancy lives in Scripps Ranch where she has enjoyed raising two daughters.
