Ray Allison
Ray Allison, Realtors — Houston, Texas
Ray Allison is an independent commercial real estate broker, advisor, and writer based in Houston, Texas, with more than four decades of experience representing owners, investors, tenants, developers, and owner-users across a wide range of commercial property types.
His career began in the early 1980s through direct involvement in property acquisition, management, and development, providing a practical foundation that continues to shape his approach to commercial real estate today.
Ray later founded Ray Allison, Realtors and subsequently co-founded AllisonSpear.com, Realtors. Following the firm’s acquisition by Prudential Gary Greene Realtors, he managed the company’s Inner Loop office and later led its Commercial Real Estate Division, providing brokerage leadership, transaction oversight, and agent development across a multi-office platform serving the greater Houston market.
Today, Ray focuses on commercial leasing, investment sales, landlord and tenant representation, and strategic advisory assignments. His experience spans office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, and redevelopment properties, with particular emphasis on helping clients navigate complex transactions, leasing strategies, repositioning opportunities, and long-term real estate decision-making.
Known for a direct communication style, practical problem-solving, and a transaction-focused approach, Ray is often engaged when experience, judgment, and local market knowledge are critical to moving a deal from concept to closing.
A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Building Construction, Ray brings a perspective that extends beyond brokerage into the physical, operational, and financial realities of commercial real estate assets. Throughout his career, he has remained actively involved in the Houston community through professional, civic, and charitable endeavors.
Ray is also a writer, public speaker, and longtime volunteer. Since 2009, he has served as a lector at Houston’s Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, regularly reading before large congregations and participating in the life of one of the city’s most prominent faith communities. His volunteer work and public speaking experience have further strengthened the communication and leadership skills that have been central to his professional success.
Outside of brokerage, Ray writes essays and commentary exploring people, place, memory, community, and the experiences that shape our lives. His writing reflects a belief that real estate is ultimately about more than buildings and transactions—it is about understanding the individuals, businesses, neighborhoods, and stories that define a city.
Clients often value not only Ray’s transactional experience, but also the perspective that comes from decades of leadership, public service, entrepreneurship, and long-standing involvement in the communities he serves. Whether representing a landlord, tenant, investor, or business owner, he approaches each assignment with the same objective: helping clients make informed decisions and move successfully from opportunity to outcome.
