Bio
Locally raised, Robert Grooters began his career working for a regional grocery distributor. During that time, he became aware of the opportunity that existed with the high volume/low mark-up philosophy. Soon after his career in grocery, Mr. Grooters became involved in an industrial metal salvage operation where he began to realize the tremendous need for industrial space in the West Michigan marketplace.
Mr. Grooters visualized assisting West Michigan businesses by providing cost effective industrial and office space in highly visible locations. Robert Grooters Development Company has developed over 25 million square feet of office and industrial space in West Michigan.
One example of RGDC’s landmark developments are the Union Station facilities. This award-winning project is located in downtown Grand Rapids along US-131 in one of the state’s renaissance zones. Another well known RGDC project is Bridgewater Place which is situated overlooking the Grand River. Mr. Grooters built the $60 million dollar high-rise office complex in 1991 and it has attracted several of Grand Rapids’ most prestigious companies. The sister tower to Bridgewater Place is made up of residential condominiums and is known as River House Condominiums. This project is the tallest building in Grand Rapids as well as the largest all-residential building in the state of Michigan.
