I worked during the 1980s and into the 1990s for DT&C which became DTZ (and now Cushman & Wakefield) within the Investment and Industrial depts. It was a fantastic time.
In the 1990s, realising that I was not set out for long term corporate life, I formed Casper Douglas Investments to concentrate on maximising any breakup potential within targeted town centre mixed use buildings - as a result we developed and asset managed (on our own account and for investors) numerous such buildings throughout the UK including towns and cities like York, Richmond, Thirsk, Nottingham, Suffolk, Bristol, Windsor, Isle of Wight and many buildings in Central and SW London.
CDI has worked closely with occupiers to ensure that both parties' interests are completely aligned. Most people we have worked seem to have enjoyed the experience and ended up with a result that worked positively for them at the time.
In 2017 I set up Darlington Asset Management with two close colleagues through which we identify large potential mixed use UK strategic land projects (with or without existing buildings and income) - either off the market or being marketed very quietly.
Casper Douglas Solutions sits alongside CDI and provides strategic advice, property recommendations and introductions to friends and long term contacts throughout the industry. Whilst we are not agents, we do accept introductory fees where appropriate and there is not a position for us in the project going forward. Primarily we explore potential JV structures with like-minded people able to provide an equity source for projects identified and secured by us in this respect.
We provide considerable advice to existing land/building owning companies where property is not their core business - we are usually asked to help maximise any potential from this substantial existing inhouse resource (advising on asset creation alongside any required finance arrangements) - handling this considerable workload on their behalf and ultimately create a significant additional income source for their business.
