Bio
Stephen J. Block has been associated with Block Real Estate Services, LLC since 1974 after graduating from Carnegie-Mellon University. He is presently Principal and department head of Block Real Estate Services, LLC Syndication Division.
Stephen began his career in leasing office and retail space with renovation of several buildings in the historic Westport area of Kansas City. In 2000 he completed the 400,000 square foot, $80 million Midtown Redevelopment projects located at 40th and Mill Streets, Main Street and Linwood Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. These projects have been recognized nationally as an innovative approach to inner-city revitalization. He is also involved with the Union Hill redevelopment project, a 12-block area at 31st and Main in Kansas City, Missouri. This mixed-use development consists of retail, restaurant, hotel, apartment and office uses complementing new and renovated single and multi-family residential properties.
Mr. Block is thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of real estate brokerage, development, construction, financing, syndication, leasing and marketing. He has been quoted on numerous occasions in well-known magazines, including The Wall Street Journal, Midwest Real Estate News, the Kansas City Business Journal, the Kansas City Star, and other publications.
He is a Life Member of the Missouri Million Dollar Club and has received numerous awards and citations from various development agencies including Urban Design Awards and Economic Development Cornerstone Awards. Stephen was inducted into the 2012 Midwest Real Estate Hall of Fame; he was awarded the Allen J. Block REALTOR® of the Year and was awarded for nearly 30 years of work improving Main Street from the Main Street Community Development Corporation (MainCor) in May of 2012. He was recently awarded Realtor Emeritus status by the National Association of Realtors.
