Susan Barga has consistently ranked among the top-producing real estate sales agents in her area for the past 18 years. Known as the “Neighborhood Realtor,” Susan is deeply connected to her community, where she lives, works, and invests her time. Before launching her real estate career, Susan thrived in corporate sales and hospitality. Her journey began on Cape Cod during a summer break from Ohio State, where she embraced the island-resort lifestyle and developed a passion for customer service. Working in high-end resort operations and managing VIP clients, including well-known celebrities, she learned the importance of treating every client with equal respect—a lesson that continues to define her professional approach today.
After returning to her hometown in Ohio, Susan transitioned into real estate, quickly becoming a leading agent in the region. Beyond her professional success, Susan is an active community leader and volunteer. She has served in numerous organizations, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Athens County Board of Realtors (as President), and the Athens Rotary Club. Her commitment to service has earned her multiple accolades, such as the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year, the Trailblazer Award, and the Ohio Association of Realtors’ First Place Community Service Award.
Susan’s philanthropic involvement includes spearheading local fundraisers—most notably the American Red Cross’ “Dancing with the Athens’ Stars”—and serving as Grand Marshal for the annual Susan Barga Sandlot Day Parade, a beloved community tradition.
Family remains the cornerstone of Susan’s life. Raised in a large family with strong Irish roots, she credits her entrepreneurial spirit to lessons from her father. She shares her life with her husband, Chuck, City Manager of Nelsonville, and their son Nicholas, an accomplished student-athlete. Away from work, Susan enjoys beach vacations, especially to Anna Maria Island, and proudly cheers on her son’s hockey team across the Midwest.
