Wayne West III, President, guides Newport’s portfolio to ensure each hotel performs at its full potential. With over 40 years in the industry, he is dedicated to helping hotels maximize guest loyalty, associate engagement, and profitability. Known for his hands-on management style, Wayne fosters individual growth through collaborative thinking and teamwork.
Starting his career in entry-level roles across hotel operations, Wayne held multiple general manager positions before advancing to VP of Operations, Chief Operating Officer, and now President. His extensive experience managing properties nationwide has given him a well-rounded approach to leadership, excelling across all hotel disciplines. Wayne received the prestigious Kemmons Wilson Award in 2022 in recognition of his contributions.
An East Carolina University alumnus and a certified hotel administrator by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, Wayne has operated, supervised, and owned assets in the IHG, Marriott, and Hilton systems, as well as boutique hotels. He has served on Marriott’s Owners Council and various IHG committees, including the Food & Beverage, Operations, and Standards Committees, and chaired the IHG Owners Association in 2020-21.
