Bio
Whitney “Whit” Rugg joins our team at MG Commercial Real Estate as a Sales Associate. For the past 20 years, he has held various fiduciary roles in the banking and financial services industry, most recently as a mortgage banker at a real estate firm based in Newport, Rhode Island.
Whitney was born in San Diego, CA moving coast to coast multiple times during his early childhood while his father was on active duty as an Officer in the U.S. Navy. Upon his father’s retirement from active duty, Mr. Rugg spent the remainder of his childhood living in St. Petersburg, FL. A graduate of St. George’s School, Whitney attended The College of Charleston earning a Bachelor of Arts in U.S. History.
Mr. Rugg is deeply committed to community service, having served on the Board of Directors for the Star Kids Scholarship Program for Newport/Fall River. He remains actively involved in supporting the charity’s mission.
Outside of his professional life, Whitney is a competitive sailor, racing in national and international regattas, winning seven US National Championships in various disciplines during his career. He is an active member of the New York Yacht Club and the Storm Trysail Club. He currently volunteers and serves on the Race Committee for the New York Yacht Club.
Mr. Rugg resides in Middletown, Rhode Island with his wife and two children.
