Over fifty years ago, the Barnhart family purchased approximately 27 acres of land in what is currently the Galleria/Uptown area of Houston, Texas. Commercial development of this land by Barnhart Interests, Inc. began in 1976 with the construction of Sage Park, a three-story 120,000 square foot atrium building designed by Morris Aubry Architects.
The development of Sage Plaza Office Building, a 560,000 square foot Class A office tower followed in 1982 (also designed by Morris Architects). Originally a spec building, Sage Plaza quickly leased to Sohio Petroleum for their headquarters relocation from California and retained 95%+ occupancies through the transition to British Petroleum and Halliburton Company.
