In 1973, the first modern Lidl location opened in Ludwigshafen, Germany. With only three employees and around 500 products, this tiny store was the humble beginning of their global expansion. Lidl started opening stores outside of Germany in the 1990s, and within a few years, they were all over Europe!
Now Lidl operates in dozens of countries and employ hundreds of thousands people globally. No matter their size, the Lidl mission has always remained the same: offer customers high-quality produce, meat, baked goods, household products and more at unbelievably low prices. Because good groceries should be accessible to everyone.
