In 1989, Michael A. Vlasic founded MAVD in connection with his family’s business, Vlasic Investments, LLC. Since the 1930s, the Vlasic family has been an active investor and operator of businesses in Southeast Michigan, most notably Vlasic Foods, which was sold to Campbell Soup Company in 1978. MAVD’s real estate activities were initially concentrated in and around Ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan, and consistently named among the best places to live, work, and play. MAVD maintains its headquarters in Ann Arbor. In 2006, MAVD diversified and expanded its real estate portfolio by opening an office in Denver, Colorado. From this western base of operations, MAVD led the acquisition and development of real estate assets along the Colorado Front Range in the key growth markets of Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins – cities that share many of the university influences, attributes and accolades as Ann Arbor.
