Scott H. Gendell founded Terraco in 1985. Terraco specializes in retail, office, medical and mixed-used properties, with an emphasis on neighborhood and community shopping centers and single-purpose retail destinations. Terraco has owned, developed and operated real estate in nine states, with a focus on the Chicago area, Northern Illinois and the Midwest.Terraco has developed more than 100 properties totaling over 5 million square feet on over 1,000 acres. They have subdivided large land tracts for mixed-use projects including residential, office and retail elements, and worked with more than 50 municipalities. Terraco has established a reputation for innovation in site planning and architectural and landscape design, and client-owned properties account for over half of their management contracts. They have been involved in more than 2,000 lease transactions, and build and implement unique strategic plans to maximize each asset's value.
