We’ve found success here in our headquarters of Myrtle Beach, S.C., since 1984, when Brown first earned his commercial real estate license. But the Bethune family company history is rooted deeper than that. The Bethunes originally settled in Bethune, S.C., in the 1700s (before it adopted the Bethune town namesake). Brown and Phil’s father, Robert, grew up in nearby Cheraw, and in 1975, the family moved to Myrtle Beach, where Brown graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1981 and Phil attended school through ninth grade until transferring to Camden Military Academy. Brown went on to attend Spartanburg Methodist College and Coastal Carolina University, and Phil graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Business Administration.
