Matsunoki Ramen began from a love of Japanese cuisine and a desire to share those flavors with Portland, building its identity around comfort food and a neighborhood dining experience. The company focuses on Japanese ramen, including tonkotsu and vegan ramen, along with mazemen, fried chicken, delivery, and takeout service. Matsunoki Ramen operates as a ramen and fried chicken vendor at Pine Street Market and has expanded into a standalone space, reflecting a broader presence in Portland's ramen scene. The company maintains continued emphasis on ramen varieties, vegan options, and chicken dishes across its Portland locations.
Pine Street Taproom operates as a full-service bar within Pine Street Market, a culinary-themed marketplace and food hall in Portland's downtown Market District. Pine Street Market opened in the spring of 2016, giving the taproom a setting alongside chefs and purveyors under one roof inside the historic Carriage & Baggage Building. The taproom focuses on local beers and specialty cocktails, while the broader market presents a casual setting for lunch, happy hour, and dinner with a mix of dining options and takeaway service. The market features a range of complementary food concepts, including juice bars, mini donuts, Thai comfort food, ramen, and dumplings, which reinforces the taproom's role within a food hall built around drinks and shared dining.
Shanghai's Best is a Portland Chinese restaurant that began as a food cart in 2018 and later moved from the Alder Street food cart pod to Pine Street Market, with additional time in Salem. The restaurant focuses on Shanghainese dishes, especially handmade dumplings, shengjian mantou, and bao, offering pork, chicken, vegetarian, and vegan fillings. Shanghai's Best remains part of Pine Street Market's lineup of eateries and continues to serve a menu centered on dumpling and bao specialties in a casual food-hall setting.
What’s one of the biggest things The Mini Donut Company founder Matt Whiffen learned from his corporate background? Everyone loves donuts! But no one wanted to be "that person" in the office who takes an entire donut. Lightbulb moment: If mini-sized, no more splitting – everyone in the office can take two or three! Thus, The Mini Donut Company was born. What started in Seattle back in 2019 as a delivery-only business catering to offices is now a full-fledged mini donut company serving all of San Diego. The Mini Donut Company opened their first location in San Diego’s Liberty Public Market. A second location quickly followed suit, at the Little Italy Food Hall, and they now have a third location at the Windmill Food Hall in Carlsbad. With more locations on the horizon, they're excited to spread the mini donut love!
