The area now known as Pence Springs was originally frequented by wildlife and Indigenous peoples, drawn to its mineral-rich waters. In 1872, Andrew S. The arrival of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway in the late 1870s, with a station conveniently located across the Greenbrier River, significantly boosted the influx of guests.
