Historical Site:
This house was built in 1879 and is the oldest adobe home still standing in Southwest Riverside county.
Jose, a Basque from Spain, who was educated in Scotland as an accountant, came to the area with Juan Murrieta in the early 1870’s. Jose built the house for his wife, Grace, and their children, Ormiston and Ysabel.
Jose was Riverside County’s first tax assessor.
