This eight-story brick, stone, and glazed terra-cotta landmark building was built in 1911-1912 at the height of the economic upswing immediately after the First World War. The building is an excellent example of Chicago School exterior articulation and Edwardian-era Classical Revival ornamentation. The building has since been modernized through major renovations in 2022, with new washrooms on each floor and a re-facing of the exterior brick facade. The interior of most units retains nearly all of its original plan, materials, and decoration including original frosted glass office partitions, unit radiators & oak framed windows and doors. The eighth and ninth floors were particularly well-appointed and offered spectacular views of the North Shore Mountains and east-facing units a view of Mt. Baker.
